Our Story

On January 12, 2010, an earthquake hit Haiti killed 316,000 people and severely injured more than 300,000 others. Out of 15,000 primary schools 7, 500 just disappeared and 1,500 secondary schools collapsed causing the death of 39,000 students and 13,000 teachers. The magnitude of the damages affected the whole educational system. Haitian educators teaching abilities, and resilience to resume instructional activities became a problem to resolve. Dr. André-Dupuy conducted a qualitative research and examined the Haitian teachers’ self-efficacy following the earthquake. From this research, EFOAA sprouted. With her own money ($1500) the founder, Dr.Andre-Dupuy provided modest items such as towels, notebooks, pencils and backpacks to needy children in Haiti. Today, EFOAA is proud to offer scholarships, school supplies additional to toys for the holidays to the poor children in Haiti.
